Our Team

We often hear the phrase, “It takes a village to raise a child”. At Perry House, we know that professional childcare complements the hard work of parents and guardians at home.

Working together we can foster each child’s full potential.

In addition to our teaching staff, Perry House employs a full-time cook who works hard to provide healthy and nutritious home-cooked meals and snacks and licenced bus drivers who ensure children arrive to and from school (or to day-trip destinations) safely. During the summer, Perry House also employs certified swim instructors.

Committed to quality care

When hiring, Perry House looks for individuals who are committed to providing a quality childcare and a warm and supportive learning environment for your child.

Over the years we have been fortunate to build a great team. Our staff’s pride and commitment to Perry House can be seen with our low turnover and the number of long service employees. Almost three-quarters of our team have worked at Perry House for more than ten years!

Diversity is our strength

Perry House also believes that diversity is our strength. The Town of Whitby, like the Durham Region and the Greater Toronto Area, has an incredibly diverse population and it is important that our team, as well as our programming, reflects this diversity.

Knowledgeable, qualified and friendly

The knowledge and expertise that staff members bring to Perry House programming is considerable and skills are continually developed. Each year, staff members actively participate in a number of professional development activities in order to keep up with the evolving nature of the childcare field.

Each classroom has the mandatory number of Registered Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) required by the Ministry of Education. Together, with our assistant teachers they provide a quality program for all children.
Each staff member has a valid Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification; participates in annual Health & Safety training; and, must pass a Vulnerable Sector Police Check as conditions of employment.
